Imagining Canada’s Future: 16 global challenges
In 2018, SSHRC partnered with Policy Horizons Canada on a comprehensive horizon-scanning exercise to identify 16 emerging global challenges with the potential to have a major impact on Canada and the world in the next decade and shape society in significant ways. All the challenges cross multiple sectors and research disciplines and require broad collaboration to address.
SSHRC monitors research capacity in these challenge areas, and develops and implements strategies, knowledge mobilization activities and funding opportunities to enhance the contribution made by the social sciences and humanities research across the global challenges.
