Change to Insight Grants submission deadline

In October 2019, the SSHRC online application tool experienced a system failure that temporarily prevented the processing of applications for the Insight Grants competition. This issue was the result of increased pressure on SSHRC’s systems due to demand for online services and overlapping competition deadlines.

To reduce the risk of these system issues occurring again, SSHRC has permanently changed the Insight Grants submission deadline to October 1 from October 15.

SSHRC is committed to providing the best possible service with the current system. This change is intended to minimize pressure on legacy systems while long-term solutions are developed through the Tri-Agency Grants Management Solution.

The launch of the 2020 Insight Grants competition will also be moved earlier in the year to June so applicants will have over three months to prepare their applications for the October 1 submission deadline.
