The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) has awarded over $35 million to fund 585 research projects from 71 Canadian institutions through the 2022 Insight Development Grants competition.

Insight Development Grants support research in its early stages. They enable the development of new research questions, as well as experimentation with new methods, theoretical approaches or ideas. Funding is provided to individuals or teams for projects of up to two years.

Among the research being funded are projects that will investigate housing vulnerability, collective care for the postpandemic future, and supporting postsecondary Indigenous students with regard to cultural identity, belonging and diversity. Social sciences and humanities projects such as these contribute to strengthening our society’s health, education and economy.
