Funding Opportunity: Knowledge Synthesis Grants on Gender-Based Violence

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) are launching a call for proposals for Knowledge Synthesis Grants (KSGs) on the topic of gender-based violence.

While violence affects all people, some people are more at risk of experiencing it because of various forms of oppression, such as sexism, racism, colonialism, homophobia, transphobia and ableism.

Certain populations are also more likely to experience gender-based violence or face increased barriers in accessing justice and services, including women and, specifically, young women and girls; Indigenous women and girls; women who are newcomers to Canada; women in Northern, rural and remote communities; and women with disabilities; as well as Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ people.

The KSGs on gender-based violence will stimulate knowledge mobilization by supporting the synthesis of existing knowledge on this topic, the identification of knowledge gaps, and production of evidence briefs to inform policy. Research teams will share findings with key stakeholders from across sectors at the Imagining Canada’s Future Forum in spring 2024. By reaching a variety of audiences, including decision-makers, this knowledge is critical for ensuring a Canada free of gender-based violence.

A maximum of 30 grants of up to $30,000 each will be awarded.

The deadline for submission is September 1, 2022 (8:00 p.m. eastern).
